Olivier Strelli who designed this uniform was a real magician: His colour combinations were really great. Here he dares to mix green with purple, which is quite unique. You can guess how they drew attention when the main uniform colour was usually navy blue.
The Sabena stewardess became the eye catcher everywhere in the world, while there is a visual identity built around the "bird of sky" painted by Magritte. This bird is reproduced in the back of the cardigan.
The finishing touch brought by the master is the mauve and green batcape.

Magicien des couleurs, Strelli ose le vert et le mauve dans un environnement dominé traditionnellement par le bleu foncé.
L'hôtesse Sabena devient le centre d'intérêt de tous les regards, tandis que l'uniforme se décline autour d'une unité visuelle autour de l'oiseau de ciel de Magritte, reproduit dans le dos du tricot.
Pour donner LA touche du maître et ce cachet à nul autre pareil, Strelli apporte la cape dite "chauve-souris".
Bref, une réalisation qui sera une fière ambassadrice de notre savoir-faire belge. Cet ensemble constitue la pièce centrale de toute la collection.
L'uniforme est présenté ici d'abord dans sa version hiver d'avant 1995, avec foulard en mousseline.
Le bowtie, dans le même tissu que le chemisier vint plus tard.

Het mooiste uniform ooit gemaakt voor een luchtvaartmaatschappij. Ontwerper: Olivier Strelli. Strelli is bekend als een kleurentovenaar. Het groen met paarse bies is gedurft en valt natuurlijk op in een wereld waar het donkerblauw de regel is.
Het uniform wordt hier voorgesteld in de winterversie vóór 1995, met de mousseline sjaal, de "vliermuis"cape en de paarse mantel. Later wordt deze mantel vervangen door een groene regenjas met fleece.
De bowtie, in dezelfde stof als het hemd kwam later.

The summer uniform was made of a very light Diolen-like fabric and consists of a skirt, a matching jacket and a purple T-shirt with horizontal green stripes.
The skirt was completed with a blue leather belt with gold logo. Note that the belt was not worn with the winter dress (there is no eye to pass the belt in).
The logo was sometimes sewn on the jacket, but because it could not be washed, it had to be removed. Many flight attendants prefered to have it mounted on a clip so that it could be easily removed and transfered to another jacket.
L'uniforme d'été est réalisé en une matière légère, genre Diolen. Il comprend une jupe avec veste assortie, un T-shirt mauve à rayures horizontales vertes et une ceinture en cuir bleu avec boucle dorée.
A noter que la ceinture n'est pas portée avec l'uniforme d'hiver: il n' a d'ailleurs pas de passant pour la ceinture.
Le logo est cousu sur l'uniforme de gauche, mais beaucoup préféraient le logo monté en broche avec fermoir, car le logo ne pouvait être lavé en machine.
